Liverpool's new head coach Arne Slot is set to implement a series of fines for players upon his arrival at Anfield.

The former Feyenoord boss was confirmed as the new manager of the Reds this evening. His arrival has been one of the worst-kept secrets in football since Jurgen Klopp led the Liverpool fans in chants for the Dutchman on Sunday.

Slot himself had also announced earlier in the month that he had taken on the position at Anfield during a press conference. The 45-year-old is heading into a difficult job with the Reds as he looks to navigate the new era at the club.

To help him do this, according to The Athletic, the 45-year-old will look to crack down on any misdemeanours from members of his squad. It is understood that Slot shall implement a fine system for the players for matters including late arrival for matches and missing a team bus.

However, the Liverpool squad may be pleased to know that Slot does not see himself as a 'school teacher' or a disciplinarian. Instead, he aims to provide information for his team so that they can make the healthiest choices possible. Player fines will be nothing new for the squad, considering Klopp also implemented similar rules for his team.

In 2022, the German told BT Sport: "I'm very disciplined. I'm very relaxed, but sometimes things happen - not really bad things - and I ask: 'Do we have a fine for that?'

"And then they tell me: 'No, we don't have a fineP0 for that because it's never happened before'. Discipline is very important to me, but the players are used to that - they grew up in the football environment and you can't do team sport without discipline."
