Man City get Erling Haaland injury boost ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Jose Ignacio Fernandez Iglesias, known as Nacho Fernandez (L) of Real Madrid CF and Erling Haaland (R) of Manchester City during the UEFA Champions League Quarter-Final second leg match between Manchester City and Real Madrid CF at Etihad Stadium in Manchester, United Kingdom on April 17, 2024.

Manchester City have been handed a major Erling Haaland injury boost ahead of the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Haaland missed City’s 1-0 win over Chelsea in the FA Cup semi final last Saturday and did not travel with the squad for the 4-0 win away to Brighton on Thursday.

Pep Guardiola previously described Haaland’s injury as a ‘muscular issue’ and was coy when asked about the striker’s availability on Thursday evening.

‘I prefer to have Erling at my disposal than not have him,’ Guardiola said.

Asked if Haaland could be available for the weekend, Guardiola said: ‘I don’t know. I don’t know, I spoke yesterday with him and he told me he feels better. He feels better. But I don’t know.’

However, City fans were given a boost on Friday afternoon after the club confirmed that Haaland took part in a training session with his teammates earlier that day.
