Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has aimed a prodding dig at Arsenal following his penalty in Tuesday’s 2-2 Champions League quarter-final first leg clash, cheekily suggesting that the Gunners “hand the opportunities” to him.
The spot kick was Kane’s 15th goal in 20 matches against Arsenal, and his first in a Bayern Munich shirt. His 32nd-minute conversion did not turn out to be the winner, though, with Leandro Trossard finding the net on 76 minutes to square the tie.
Arsenal had initially gone ahead when Bukayo Saka fired home on 12 minutes but former Gooner Serge Gnabry cancelled it out six minutes later. Bayern will feel pleased with the result amid their drab campaign.
The Champions League is their only chance of silverware this season having lost the German Super Cup in August and been dumped out of the DFB Pokal by a lower-league club, with the Bavarians currently 16 points behind in the Bundesliga title race.
Former Tottenham superstar Kane is still, therefore, waiting for the first senior trophy of his career. However, he couldn’t resist having a pop at Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Asked by CBS Sports what it was like playing back at the Emirates Stadium despite moving leagues, Kane said: “It was strange, if I am honest. Of course, I didn't expect to be back here so quick into my Bayern career but it was a good occasion and a tough game.

“We knew Arsenal have a lot of quality, especially here in their home so we had to dig deep at times but, overall, it has been a good experience to come back and a good game, a tough game and now it is all to play for next week in Munich.”
On the spot-kick, he added: “I get quite a lot of penalties against Arsenal, especially at the Emirates, they kind of hand opportunities to me. I enjoy these games, they are big games... the London derbies.
“I've had some good results, some bad results as well. I enjoy big games, a quarter-final - it doesn't matter if it's Arsenal or whoever, it is a big game.”
