A key member of the midfield ranks at Borussia Dortmund was forced to sit out training on Tuesday.
This, of course comes just 24 hours out from the club’s showdown with Atlético Madrid.
Dortmund, and Atlético, are primed to lock horns on the continent on Wednesday night, in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie between the clubs.
The matchup will play out at the Wanda Metropolitano, with the former, in turn, having flown out to Spain’s capital earlier today.
Prior to as much, however, Dortmund were dealt some concerning news on the personnel front.
This came in the form of confirmation that club captain Emre Can had come down with a bout of illness.
The former Juventus and Liverpool man, as a result, sat out BVB’s training session on Tuesday evening, as a precaution.
Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Can’s wellbeing was put to head coach Edin Terzić.
And, in his response, Dortmund’s boss went on to reveal his hope that, come kick-off time on Wednesday night, his skipper will be fit and ready to feature from the off:

“This morning, Emre felt a little sick before leaving the airport,” Terzić began, as cited by Mundo Deportivo. “The doctor saw him again and we decided that we were going to reserve him today (in training), although we are optimistic that he will be able to play tomorrow. We will wait for how it evolves in the next 24 hours.”
