Gladbach take dominant 4-0 win against Wolfsburg

Tomas Cvancara of Borussia Moenchengladbach celebrates after scoring his team's first goal with teammates during the Bundesliga match between Borussia Mönchengladbach and VfL Wolfsburg at Borussia Park Stadium on November 10, 2023 in Moenchengladbach, Germany.

Borussia Monchengladbach have moved up the standings in the Bundesliga after a dominant 4-0 win over VfL Wolfsburg.

Wolfsburg were the better team on Friday night until Tomas Cvancara broke the deadlock for Gladbach in the 16th minute, finishing off a low cross from Franck Honorat.

Gladbach almost made it 2-0 just three minutes later when Alassane Plea curled a powerful shot from the edge of the box, but Koen Casteels was able to tip the ball wide to avoid what would have been a stunning goal.

But goal number two was just a matter of time and Gladbach got it in the 42nd thanks to Rocco Reitz, who scored his first-ever Bundesliga goal.

Honorat got one himself in the 64th to put the game to bed and Plea still had time to add a fourth in the 71st.

"I have always dreamed to scored my first Bundesliga goal here. And I'm very happy that I could help the team and overall very happy with the performance," Reitz told broadcasters DAZN.

Cvancara was also satisfied with how the team played and happy with his goal. "It was an amazing pass and for me it was easy."

The win moved Gladbach up to ninth while Wolfsburg dropped to 10th.

Champions Bayern Munich host Heidenheim on Saturday, while leaders Bayer Leverkusen welcome Union Berlin on Sunday.
