Genoa claimed a 1-0 victory against visitors Verona in their Friday evening Serie A kick-off. A goal from Romanian defender Radu Dragusin proved the difference as Genoa stayed in mid-table.

In the earlier game on Friday evening Salernitana were 2-0 up at Sassuolo and looked poised to finally claim their first win of the season only to end up with a 2-2 draw.

Genoa secured a 1-0 victory over Hellas Verona in the late kick-off in Serie A on Friday.

They had former Juventus defender Radu Dragusin to thank as the 21-year-old scored his first Serie A goal with a powerful volley late in the first half.

Verona were unable to find an equaliser in the second period, giving the home side all three points.

The win lifts Genoa into 13th spot with 14 points, while Verona remain in the bottom three on eight points, in 18th, after their eighth loss of the season.

Salernitana were denied their first Serie A win of the season when they surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Salernitana.

New manager FIlippo Inzaghi has failed to claim a league win in any of his four matches since he took over in October, with the club now bottom of the table after 12 games, with just five points. Sassuolo sit in 15th.

Salernitana took the lead when Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi finished past Andrea Consigli after five minutes, with Boulaye Dia making it two with a rising shot 12 minutes later.

However, Sassuolo's Norwegian midfielder Kristian Thorstvedt scored twice in the second half for a share of the points.

On Saturday, Juventus play Cagliari and AC Milan travel to Lecce before Monza host Torino.
