Barcelona Dealt Massive Blow as €45M ‘World Class’ Striker Looks Set to Stay

Bayern Munich have no plans at all of selling Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona in the summer transfer window, their CEO Oliver Kahn has confirmed. This deals another blow to Barcelona’s hopes to sign the Polish striker to bolster their attack next season.

Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn has made it clear that the Bavarians are expecting Lewandowski to respect his contract and turn up to their pre-season training next month.

He said: “As far as Lewandowski is concerned, not much has changed. He’s still under contract until 2023. Here at Bayern we are now looking forward to the first day of training with Robert.”

The Bundesliga champions are unmoved in their insistence to not sell Lewandowski despite his public plea to leave. The 33-year-old striker prefers to join Barcelona as he is craving a new challenge towards the end of his career.

Bayern, however, are not ready to sell their goal machine, who scored 50 goals for them last season and helped them win another Bundesliga title.

Lewandowski is really intent on joining Barcelona and is trying his best to push through a move to the La Liga giants in the summer. Bayern, however, don’t seem interested at all in making that ‘dream move’ happen and are trying to block his exit.

Due to their financial issues, Barcelona can’t pay excessively high transfer fees to rope him in either. The Blaugrana could now be forced to look into other options if Lewandowski can’t convince Bayern to let him leave.

Barca currently only have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as their only natural number nine option. The experienced striker had a stellar second half of a campaign with them since joining in January, scoring 13 goals in 23 appearances for them.

Xavi Hernandez does not want to rely only on the Gabonese forward to lead his line throughout a grueling campaign. Barcelona have earmarked Gabriel Jesus as an alternative to Lewandowski, but the Brazilian striker looks to be close to a move to Arsenal. Irrespective of wherever they look at, finding a goal-scorer similar to the Bayern Munich striker can be a herculean task for Barca.
