Leicester City could be without nine players through injury for Liverpool clash

Leicester City are likely to be without as many as nine players when they take on Liverpool on Tuesday.

The Reds are back in Premier League action after their Boxing Day clash against Leeds United was postponed.

While Liverpool got that day off, Leicester were in action against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, where they lost 6-3

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has been without a number of players due to injury and positive Covid-19 tests in recent weeks.

Leicester do not have the same luxury, with many players still on the treatment table despite seeing the back of a recent Covid outbreak.

Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Harvey Barnes and Jonny Evans will not be available for the second meeting with LIverpool in the space of a week.

There are also long-term absentees in the form of James Justin and Wesley Fofana, who both missed the Carabao Cup tie against the Reds at Anfield last Wednesday.

Leicester also suffered a number of injuries in that defeat to Liverpool, and they are all set not to feature in the Premier League clash between the sides at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday.

Patson Daka suffered a hamstring injury, and it was the same for centre-back Caglar Soyuncu, while right-back Ricardo Pereira fractured his fibula following a tackle from Tyler Morton.

To add to the Foxes' injury woes, Ryan Bertrand twisted his knee in the defeat to Manchester City, while former Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward has not been in the matchday squad for the past two fixtures.

There was some good news from Rodgers, though, when he indicated that both Jamie Vardy and Wilfred Ndidi will start after being deemed fit enough only for the bench on Boxing Day.
