Liverpool have worked out personal terms on a contract with Schalke defender Ozan Kabak and also agreed on agent fees with his representatives, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
After insisting all winter that they will not be making a move for a defender, Liverpool could end up signing two centre-backs on deadline day.
Preston defender Ben Davies is on the cusp of joining Liverpool and the Reds are also working towards getting a deal done to sign Kabak from Schalke.
The Premier League champions are in talks with the German club, who are prepared to loan out the defender, but are insisting on including an obligation to buy.
It has been claimed that Liverpool have removed one of the stumbling blocks in the chase by agreeing on terms on a contract with the defender.

Kabak is keen on a move to Merseyside and Liverpool faced little problems in agreeing on personal terms.
The Reds have also sorted out the agent fees they would have to pay to his representatives if the deal is done.
Schalke want the obligation to buy in the loan agreement and are also keen to secure a replacement before letting Kabak go.
