Juve star Cristiano Ronaldo held back in team training after returning to Italy

Cristiano Ronaldo will not be allowed to train with his Juventus teammates despite finally returning to Italy after two months of coronavirus lockdown.

The Portugal international has been self-isolating with his family in Madeira but has now arrived back in Turin.

Ronaldo landed in Italy on Tuesday on the same day that many of Juve's stars reported back to the club's training ground.

The forward and his family flew back in his £20million Gulfstream G200 Galaxy plane.

But he is now being forced to complete 14 days of quarantine because he entered Italy from another country.

The 35-year-old is hoping to help the Old Lady secure a ninth successive Serie A title this season.

If games do restart then they will take a one point lead over second-placed Lazio with 12 games remaining.

Ronaldo won the title in his first season with Juve after his big money transfer from Real Madrid in the summer of 2018.

Italy has come out of lockdown for the first time in eight weeks but there is still no guarantee that remaining fixtures will be played.

The country has endured one of the worst infection and death rates in Europe and there they are not out of danger just yet.

Ronaldo's own journey back to Turin was delayed due to coronavirus as his private jet was stopped from taking off from Madeira due to restrictions, before eventually being allowed to make the trip.

The former Manchester United star has been keeping himself busy with his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez and their four children in Portugal.

Strict government protocol is in operation at all Serie A clubs, which involves players keeping a safe distance, as well as only training in small groups.
