Luis Suarez: Neymar and Martinez will always be welcome at Barcelona

Barcelona's Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez reacts during the Spanish Super Cup semi final between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid on January 9, 2020, at the King Abdullah Sport City in the Saudi Arabian port city of Jeddah.

Luis Suarez insists Neymar would be welcomed back at Barcelona with open arms should he return this summer.

And the Uruguayan also lauded the ability of Lautaro Martinez, another Nou Camp target, and said any player who has the drive to win trophies is welcome in the changing room.

Neymar has long been linked back with a move to Spain ever since moving to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

The Brazilian played alongside Suarez for three years for the Catalan giants, winning the Champions League together, and the former Liverpool forward would love to play alongside him yet again.

“Ney [Neymar], everyone knows him and we know the appreciation that we have for him in the dressing room.

“As a player his ability is indisputable because he still has a lot to give and in the dressing room he would always be welcome because of the affection we have for him.

It wasn't just Neymar who Suarez reserved praise for.

Martinez has shone in Serie A this season with Inter, scoring 12 goals in 22 matches, and has emerged as another target.

And the Uruguay international would have no qualms in seeing yet more competition on the training pitch.

“Lautaro is a player who has been growing a lot in Italy, he is a 'nine' who has movements that are spectacular and that reflects how great a striker he is,” he said.

“It is not that I feel compatible with them but that I'm happy that the club wants to bring in players who come to help and fulfill the same objective as everyone else, that of wanting to win everything.”
