Manchester United are showing interest in bringing Wolves star Matheus Cunha as INEOS looks to strengthen the frontline.

According to The Mirror, Matheus Cunha is a player of interest for Manchester United ahead of the summer. The £60 million-rated Premier League striker has been sensational for Wolves in his first full season at Molineux as INEOS looks to shore up their frontline ahead of the new season. The Red Devils are ready to offer him a bumper contract and double his wages.

Manchester United are seemingly taking a new direction under the leadership of INEOS, who are expected to lay down new rules regarding the club’s transfer policies. For starters, they are not overly enthused about signing established stars in their prime, as reports suggest they will bring players only under the age of 25.

The idea seems like a refreshing one, but they might have to shell out huge sums to bring players of the quality they need to take the team forward. Matheus Cunka of Wolves has emerged as a target, as INEOS remains intent on strengthening their front line and adding a new striker to complement Rasmus Hojlund’s talents.

Cunha, who only completed his first full season with Wolves after making a £44 million move from Atletico Madrid, has been one of their most impressive players. Interest in the forward will come as no surprise to the Molineux hierarchy, who are not overly keen to lose him so quickly into his Wolves career.

He’s currently a £60 million-rated Premier League striker after 14 goals and 8 assists in all competitions for Wolves. Manchester United and INEOS view his energy, passion, and ambition as a big factor in their pursuit of the forward. They might be confident of convincing the Brazilian of a switch, though any move will depend on Wolves’ asking price.

Manchester United want a young striker

Manchester United were linked with some experienced strikers ahead of the January window, including Serhou Guirassy. Despite the Stuttgart man’s 30-goal season, the Red Devils are no longer interested in him, citing his age and long-term value as the main reasons behind their cooling pursuit.

They are interested in Benjamin Sesko, although Arsenal appear like the front runners for the Slovenian. In all, Manchester United are looking at a young striker who may be a bit younger or slightly older than Hojlund, as INEOS believes that would bring about a balance and the idea of building a team for the future.
