Erik ten Hag's Manchester United future could be decided within the next week, it has been claimed.

The former Ajax manager faced questions after a disappointing eighth place finish, United's worst in the Premier League era. However, victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final made it two trophies in as many years and secured another season of European football.

Ten Hag went on a planned holiday after that game, with higher-ups at Old Trafford working on coming to a decision over his fate. The 54-year-old has another year on his contract, but the arrival of part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe midway through the season prompted questions over what might lie in store.

United have been conducting a post-season review, with some big decisions on the horizon this summer. And one of those concerns Ten Hag, with the club now aware they would need to spend more to sack him thanks to that cup final win.

According to Sky Sports, the review process has entered its final stages. The broadcaster indicates a decision could be made in the next week, with Ten Hag's fate being discussed despite that cup win. Others, however, are set to move on. United confirmed their retained list, with senior players Anthony Martianl, Raphael Varane and Brandon Williams all departing upon the expiry of their deals.

Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton are in talks over new deals, though, while contract offers have been made to Omari Forson and Shola Shoretire. Forson was handed a full debut by Ten Hag during the 2023-24 season, and United would be entitled to compensation if he opts to join another Premier League side.

Pochettino and De Zerbi left Chelsea and Brighton respectively after their clubs' final matches of the 2023-24 season. Former Chelsea boss Tuchel agreed his Bayern exit midway through the season, with Vincent Kompany eventually replacing him at the Allianz Arena.

United's first pre-season campaign of the Ratcliffe and INEOS era includes five scheduled friendlies, beginning with a trip to Rosenborg on July 15. They will then take on Rangers at Murrayfield, following by three friendly matches in the United States in late July and early August.
