Juventus to try signing Manchester United outcast

Mason Greenwood of Getafe CF controls the ball during the LaLiga EA Sports match between Rayo Vallecano and Getafe CF at Estadio de Vallecas on April 13, 2024 in Madrid, Spain.

Juventus are searching for wingers potentially available at an affordable price after missing out on Felipe Anderson, and Mason Greenwood is one of the top candidates on their radar.

The attacker has bounced back with Getafe after his legal troubles sidelined him for over a year at Manchester United.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Fantacalcio), the forward is unlikely to stay put at Old Trafford despite his solid La Liga spell.

His trial ended on February 2023 as the charges of attempted rape, assault, and coercive control were dropped due to the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light. However, the ordeal has left behind lingering ethical consequences and questions that the Red Devils might want to avoid.

Juventus could try to take advantage of the fact that Greenwood has just one more year on his contract with Manchester United. He can’t depart on loan again without a renewal and could leave for a reduced fee.

The 22-year-old has tallied 10 goals and 6 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions this campaign. He was shelved for 20 months during his trial. He has amassed 129 appearances with the Red Devils, hitting the net on 35 occasions.
