Bruno Guimaraes says Newcastle’s £40m player is even faster than Alexander Isak

Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle United looks on after the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Newcastle United at Selhurst Park on April 24, 2024 in London, England.

Newcastle United have some absolute speedsters on their books at the moment.

Harvey Barnes, Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson are all pretty quick, while Sandro Tonali, interestingly, has been clocked as one of the fastest players in Europe according to The Speeds Database.

Speaking to Fubo, Bruno Guimaraes has been discussing who the fastest player at Newcastle is, and he gave a rather unsurprising answer.

Guimaraes stated that Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon are two of the fastest players at Newcastle, ultimately giving the edge to Gordon in this specific conversation.

Anthony Gordon is Newcastle’s fastest player

Guimaraes spoke about the two speedsters, concluding that the £40m man was the fastest.

“Who is the fastest player at Newcastle,” Guimaraes was asked.

“It is between Isak and Gordon, but I think Gordon is at the top of the list,” Guimaraes said.

Newcastle’s pace is frightening

We can imagine that Isak has something to say about Guimaraes’ comments here, but, regardless, it has to be said that Newcastle’s pace is scary.

The Magpies have shown time and time again just how quickly they can tear a team to shreds on the counter, and that was perhaps most perfectly highlighted by their game against Tottenham a couple of weeks ago.

Indeed, it’s no coincidence that the fastest player in Europe – Micky Van de Ven, had his worst game of the season against Newcastle, he was run ragged by the sheer pace that this team possesses.

Of course, it also helps that the likes of Isak, Barnes and Gordon are all incredibly technical players who can carry the ball brilliantly, but it’s that explosive pace that gives them the edge over so many of their rivals.

Eddie Howe’s side are so entertaining to watch when they’re playing their best stuff, and that’s largely down to the fact they have so many quick players in their team.
