Real Madrid complete the biggest hurdle in Kylian Mbappé transfer

Kylian Mbappe controls the ball during a France training session as part of the French national team's preparation for upcoming friendly football matches at Centre National du Football on March 19, 2024 in Clairefontaine-En-Yvelines, France.

Even though PSG have banished Kylian Mbappé to the bench in multiple matches, his transfer to Real Madrid isn’t quite official yet, even if it feels like a mere formality.

Mbappé already rejected Madrid once in the 2022 summer transfer window, having given club president Florentino Pérez his word that winter that he would be arriving in the Spanish capital following Real’s fairytale Champions League triumph.

This summer, it appears Mbappé is ready to end his charade with PSG’s Qatar ownership, which failed to back him in 2022 when they made claims of reinforcing the squad to a Champions League-winning level.

Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappé shaking hands on salary

With Mbappé forcing his way into the Spanish capital, Florentino Pérez and the Royal Whites are doing their best to get a deal done that appeases the player’s demands and, perhaps, his entourage’s.

According to ace insider Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappé have agreed to terms on a salary, which is the biggest task in getting this transfer over the line officially.

Per Fab, Mbappé will earn a salary close to the highest earners at Real Madrid, left winger Vinícius Júnior and marquee 2023 midfield signing Jude Bellingham.

Both Bellingham and Vinícius make more than 20 million euros, so it’s pretty obvious Mbappé would make money falling in line with these two, given he is on par with their quality as one of the world’s best.

Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid looks inevitable

The thing is, Mbappé made a lot more than that at PSG and would have if he took a deal with Saudi Arabia. But after toiling away in Ligue 1 for multiple seasons, Mbappé has moved on from prioritizing the dollar signs. He’s already made his money.

At this point, with each passing week and each encouraging news story from the Real Madrid perspective, an Mbappé transfer to the Bernabéu feels like an inevitability, even as Madridistas will take nothing for granted after the events of 2022.
