The Championship has paused for the final international break of the season, with Leeds United, Leicester City and Ipswich Town locked in an absorbing title race. The Whites made it 19 home league matches unbeaten on Sunday, beating Millwall 2-0 to move to the top of the table.
But there is still plenty of work for United to do to seal a top-two finish. Previous leaders Leicester City, who were in FA Cup action yesterday, have a game in hand while Ipswich Town are only a point behind in third position. Southampton are fourth with two games in hand but are nine points off the summit.
Whites boss Daniel Farke, whose side return to action on Good Friday when they travel to Watford, said: "It's not important where you are after 38 games. We can be proud of what we are doing but we want to be in a good position after 46 games. For that, we have to win many, many points."
As for Ipswich, their crunch clash with promotion rivals Coventry City will have to be rescheduled next month. The Tractor Boys were pencilled in to play the Sky Blues on Saturday, April 20, - their third to last fixture of the season - but that match will have to be rearranged after City made it through to the FA Cup semi-finals.
The Sky Blues stunned Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers, coming-from-behind to win 3-2 at Molineux thanks to two stoppage-time goals. It kept alive their hopes of becoming the first team outside the top flight to win the FA Cup since West Ham in 1980. A last four tie with Manchester United beckons.
The semi-finals of the FA Cup will be played at Wembley on Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21, meaning Ipswich's clash with Coventry will be moved to a midweek spot either before or after Ipswich head to Hull City on Saturday, April 27.
