Bayern boss Tuchel refuses to give up on title despite 10-point gap

Thomas Tuchel, Head Coach of FC Bayern München looks on prior to the UEFA Champions League 2023/24 round of 16 second leg match between FC Bayern München and SS Lazio at Allianz Arena on March 05, 2024 in Munich, Germany.

Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has refused to give up on the Bundesliga title race despite Bayer Leverkusen having a 10-point gap over them.

Bayern have 54 points in their bag at the moment, with 10 games remaining. While Leverkusen have been unbeaten throughout the campaign, Tuchel has refused to just hand over the title to them.

Speaking ahead of the Mainz clash, as quoted by Reuters, Tuchel said that they need to keep winning even if things aren't essentially in their hands at the end of the day.
The Bayern boss said that his side will be looking to be more stable.

"We haven't handed over the title," Tuchel told reporters on Friday. "There's an area between giving up and a statement of intent — and that's called reality.

"The gap is very big. That's realistic. For us, it's about being more stable and finding new stability. That always starts with the next step. We need to win, win, win."

"It's no longer in our own hands. Leverkusen no longer feel us breathing down their neck. We're to blame there. But that doesn't release us from our duty to give everything tomorrow,"
Bayern does have form on their side as they overturned a 1-0 deficit to beat Lazio and progress to the quarterfinals of the Champions League. Tuchel hopes that the result against Lazio will give his side confidence heading into the Mainz game.

The Bayern boss said that it's all about performance when putting on the jersey of the club and said they want all three points in their Bundesliga clash.

"There's always big hope. Obviously experiences and results like that (Lazio) help us, should give us courage and confidence," he added.

"When you pull on the Bayern jersey, it's about performing. That's the same tomorrow. We want the maximum tomorrow. We hope the win gives us confidence and we can follow it with more wins," said Tuchel.

Bayern will be facing Borussia Dortmund in the Der Klassiker at the end of the month, which could be crucial for both sides.
