2 Barcelona youngsters secure international call-ups

Two highly-regarded up-and-coming members of the youth setup at La Liga giants Barcelona have this weekend seen their fine recent form rewarded.

First on the agenda comes Diego Kochen.

Kochen is a 17-year-old goalkeeper, who is currently plying his trade with Barca’s U19s.

Already considered a potential future first-team star in Catalunya’s capital, the Miami native has in turn been afforded a call-up to the United States’ U19 squad for upcoming meetings with England and Morocco.

Another youngstar set to follow Kochen onto the international stage in short order is a player to have been grabbing headlines in La Masia for some time now.

The starlet in question? Mika Faye.

Defender Faye, for his part, is in the midst of a stellar debut campaign on Barcelona’s books.

Starring at the heart of Rafa Márquez’s Barca Atlètic backline, the 19-year-old has quickly made his way onto the radar of first-team boss Xavi, to the point that he, like Kochen, was included in the Blaugrana’s matchday squad to face Mallorca last weekend.

And, evidently, Faye’s exploits in Spain have not gone at all unnoticed in his home country of Senegal.

In fact, as per journalist Fabrizio Romano, the former Kustošija talent is all set for a maiden call-up to Senegal’s senior squad, for fixtures against Gabon, and Benin.
