Troubled England international Mason Greenwood has been accused of insulting a referee on his way to becoming one of three Getafe players sent off in a 2-0 La Liga loss to Rayo Vallecano.
Referee Jorge Figueroa Vazquez said in his post-match report that Greenwood insulted him in the 50th minute with an expletive in English, something the player and his club denied.
"He doesn't speak Spanish very well, he told me he was saying something else," Getafe coach Jose Bordalas said.
"He was frustrated because the referee was not calling any fouls on him, but he never offended anyone."
Greenwood is playing with Getafe on a loan from Manchester United, following a criminal investigation into an alleged attempted rape that was closed by prosecutors.
The hosts had already been playing a man down for 10 minutes by the time of Greenwood's dismissal, Juanmi Latasa sent off after receiving a second yellow card shortly before halftime.
Getafe also lost defender Damian Suarez for insulting the assistant referee moments after the right-back was substituted in the 70th minute.
Sergio Camello scored in first-half stoppage time and shortly after halftime to help Rayo end an eight-match winless streak.
Real Sociedad overcame a red card to goalkeeper Alex Remiro in the first half to salvage a late 1-1 home draw against Alaves.
Martin Zubimendi scored with a shot from inside the area six minutes into stoppage time to secure a point for Sociedad.
The result extended a 25-match winless streak on the road for Alaves - who also conceded in stoppage time while playing with an extra man in a 1-0 loss to leaders Real Madrid at home in the previous round.
Alaves forward Giuliano Simeone - son of Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone - came on in the 70th minute to make his first appearance since breaking his leg in a pre-season friendly.
"It's bittersweet," Simeone said.
"I'm happy to be playing again, but it's a shame that we let the win escape by conceding that goal in the end."
Valencia beat Villarreal 3-1 at home with a pair of penalties converted by Pepelu.
