Real Madrid player suffers injury scare on international duty

Rodrygo of Real Madrid celebrates with teammate Eduardo Camavinga after scoring the team's fifth goal during the LaLiga EA Sports match between Real Madrid CF and Valencia CF at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on November 11, 2023 in Madrid,

Real Madrid already have a lot of injury problems and do not need any more headaches in that department. Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao are out for the long term. On the other hand, Arda Guler has not even made his debut for the club since joining in the summer and has picked up three injuries already. There are several others who have dealt with short to medium-term problems.

Naturally, the club would have been worried when news broke out earlier that Eduardo Camavinga had to leave French national team training after he collided with Ousmane Dembele. It was thought to be a knock to the knee.

Camavinga is one of Real Madrid’s most important players right now. His getting injured would be a major problem for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who already have enough on their plate

Fortunately, there seems to be a more positive update on the situation now. As tweeted out by Jose Luis Sanchez, it was a false alarm. Camavinga just has a bruise on his knee. He will train without any problem with France tomorrow.

Camavinga is arguably Real Madrid’s most versatile player right now. His best position is in the middle of the park, whether that be in a defensive midfield role in the absence of Aurelien Tchouameni or a bit further forward.

Real Madrid have some fantastic depth in midfield though. The same cannot be said about left-back and there are numerous occasions when Camavinga has played there and done a fantastic job. One could argue he is the club’s best option in that position.

Thus, it is great news that Camavinga’s injury is not serious. Real Madrid fans will be hoping to see him back on the pitch as soon as possible, doing what he does best, play football.
