Last night, Barcelona announced the contract extension of manager Xavi Hernandez for another year until 2025.
The 43-year-old’s previous deal stood to expire in the summer of 2024 and after discussions took place over the summer, both parties agreed on a new extension of 12 more months until 2025, with an option for another year.
With the contract renewal now official, Marta Ramon of RAC1 has come up with more details about the new deal that Xavi Hernandez has signed with Barcelona.
Xavi’s new contract comes with a major pay bump for him as his salary is now doubled from what he used to earn.
Indeed, the manager had accepted a salary worth just €4 million per season when he arrived, keeping in mind the club’s financial situation.
Now, he will earn around €8 million per season while his staff’s wages have also been increased from €1.5 million to €4 million per year.
Despite the pay rise, Xavi’s salary is still not at the level of managers of elite clubs across Europe.
In fact, the former midfielder’s wages are less than his predecessor at Barcelona, Ronald Koeman, who used to make €9 million per year.
