Delay now likely to Sandro Tonali’s Newcastle arrival

Sandro Tonali during UEFA European Under-21 Championship Group D: France U21 vs Italy U21, disputed on Cluj Arena, 22 June 2023.

Sandro Tonali is now likely to arrive in Newcastle on Wednesday and not Monday, leading to a slight delay in him completing the remaining technicalities of his Newcastle United move, according to Newcastle World.

Eddie Howe’s side are set to conclude the signing of the Italy international from Serie A giants AC Milan.

It is unclear exactly how much the Magpies will pay to sign Tonali, with claims from Italy that when add-ons are included the total fee should touch the €80m mark.

Newcastle are now pushing to bring Tonali to England and he had been expected to arrive in the country on Monday.

However, it is claimed there is now likely to be a delay to this and the midfielder will land in Newcastle on Wednesday.

Tonali will be expected to pose in a new Newcastle shirt and at St James’ Park for photos, while completing any remaining technicalities.

The club recently released a new away kit, which is green, and Tonali could even pull that shirt on in addition to the famous black and white stripes.
Landing the highly rated midfielder is widely seen as a coup for Newcastle, who have Champions League football to look forward to in the forthcoming season.
