This summer will be a busy one for Liverpool but the same can be said for a lot of its rivals across the Premier League and beyond, with records likely to be broken in the transfer market.
Arsenal, quietly having spent a lot under Mikel Arteta, will be hoping to push on and make sure that this season’s title charge was not a one-off. Newcastle, meanwhile, another side that has overachieved this season, must consolidate itself as a top-four member.
Manchester United is likely to spend big again under Erik ten Hag, while Chelsea and Manchester City will make some big purchases again and Spurs could have some Harry Kane money to reinvest.
In short, while Liverpool is going to spend big (possibly even bigger than ever before), it will certainly not be the biggest spenders this summer — and probably will end up being some way off that.

Tottenham is set to make Feyenoord boss Arne Slot its new manager after the exit of Antonio Conte earlier in the campaign, with the Daily Mail reporting that a compensation sum of around $12.4m (£10m/€11.5m) will be required to get him out of the Dutch side.
Currently under interim coach Ryan Mason, Spurs look set to finish eighth in the standings, behind Aston Villa, and will therefore miss out on any European football. Tottenham could yet be overtaken by Brentford.
Neymar to Manchester United claim
It seems pretty certain that Neymar will leave PSG this summer along with Lionel Messi, but quite where he could end up remains to be seen. According to L’Equipe, Manchester United is in ‘advanced talks’ for the player.
ESPN’s Mark Ogden has disputed that claim, however, reporting that there is no interest from Manchester United in signing the Brazilian — at least under the current ownership.
