Bundesliga leaders Dortmund drop key points at Bochum

Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund have dropped important points in the title race after being held to a 1-1 draw by a brave Bochum side.

With the point gained on Friday, Dortmund still top the league, now with a two-point advantage over Bayern Munich.

But the Bavarians can regain their customary place at the top on Sunday if they can beat Hertha Berlin, who are bottom of the table.

For Bochum, though, it was a vital point in the relegation fight for a side who are now winless in the last five games.

Bochum found the net with only five minutes on the clock thanks to captain Anthony Losilla, who unleashed a stunning shot from distance into the top corner.

But their lead didn’t last long, as Karim Adeyemi tapped home Dortmund’s equaliser just two minutes later.

From that point, both sides had their chances in an exciting game. Dortmund had the better opportunities and should have been ahead in the 27th, but Adeyemi sent the ball wide from close range.

Keeper Manuel Riemann then kept Bochum in the game with two brilliant saves to deny Adeyemi in the 39th and Donyell Malen shortly after.

Not much changed in the second half, but Dortmund put a huge pressure on the opponents late in the game.

Luckily for Bochum, Riemann was once again superb to stop Moukoko in the 76th and Bellingham’s curler inside the box in the 77th, and he also made a few other precious saves.

Dortmund thought they would take the three points home when Mats Hummels’ header found the back of the net in stoppage-time, but the goal was ruled offside.

In the same play, the guests complained about a handball, but the penalty was not given.
