Paris Saint-Germain have received a massive injury boost ahead of their crucial Champions League encounter with Bayern Munich in the coming week.
The club’s talisman Kylian Mbappe who was initially a doubt for the Round of 16 first leg game with injury, returned to training with the group on Sunday in a bid to play a role in the game.
It has been a rough few days for PSG with their Ligue 1 title charge taking a hit following a disappointing 3-1 defeat away at AS Monaco on Saturday. Earlier, they were dealt another blow by Marseille, with Les Phocéens eliminating Christopher Gatlier’s side from the Coupe de France, thanks to a 2-1 scoreline.
Amid PSG’s struggles, Kylian Mbappe had been amiss as he sustained a thigh injury during his side’s Ligue 1 win over Montpellier at the beginning of February. The initial assessment of the extent of the Frenchman’s injury revealed that he may be out of action for at least a month.
However, that timeline might not be adhered to after all with Mbappe seemingly recovering ahead of schedule for the upcoming meeting with Bayern Munich.
According to L’Equipe, the 24-year-old forward joined the rest of the squad who did not play this weekend for an outdoor training session.
The potential return of Mbappe will be well welcomed by PSG manager Christopher Gatlier considering how important he has been to the campaign. The Frenchman featured in all six group games for Les Parisians, scoring seven goals and assisting three within the period.
