Julian Araujo signing still pending further verification

Julian Araujo #2 of Los Angeles Galaxy celebrates his game winning goal during the MLS Cup Round of 16 match against Nashville SC at the Dignity Health Sports Park on October 15, 2022 in Carson, California.

Mexican International and LA Galaxy right-back Julian Araujo was a major objective for FC Barcelona on deadline day. According to numerous trusted reports, the deal for his arrival at Barcelona was completed between the Catalan giants and the MLS club where he currently plays.

As per trusted transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, “There is a complete agreement between the clubs on a €4m fee. He’d sign until June 2026”, showcasing that on the end of club negotiations and even player negotiations, the deal bears no obstacles. However, as per similar trusted reports, the actual obstacle in terms of this transfer lies in the paperwork.

Courtesy of being “a minute late” to arrive, the paperwork may not have been submitted within the deadline for the transfer to end up materializing. It is now expected that the final decision regarding this deal’s conclusion will be made on Wednesday and it now depends on the MLS to verify if it can be made official and approve its eligibility.

Currently lacking quality depth on the right-back slot as well as personnel in numbers, with Jules Kounde having to frequently fill in the position and Hector Bellerin having just recently been transferred to Sporting Lisbon, the arrival of Julian Araujo could prove to be a key signing.

Initially planned to be incorporated into Barca Athletic, he will end up being available at Xavi’s disposal as well depending on the will of the coach to call up the youngster to the first team’s matches and training should the need arise.
