Solid defense helps Barcelona beat Celta Vigo to top La Liga

Barcelona regained top spot in La Liga with a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo at the Camp Nou.

Pedri put Barca on track when he broke the deadlock in the 17th minute after shooting home from close range after a cross from the left was blocked, but landed just in front of his feet.

Oscar Rodriguez missed Celta Vigo's equalizing chance early in the second half before Jorgen Strand Larsen ruled the goal offside.

Barca keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen made a second-half save against Iago Aspas and the Celta striker also hit the post in stoppage time to level with title rivals on 22 points.

Real Sociedad are in sixth place after Villarreal won 1-0 at home thanks to a goal from Brace Mendes in the first half and relegated Cadiz and Espanyol drew 2-2.
