Jules Kounde is concerned by Barcelona’s player registration problems as the defender continues to be ineligible to play for the club in La Liga.

The Frenchman arrived from Sevilla for a reported £42m fee but has not been able to feature in the league as Barcelona need to comply with La Liga financial rules.

The club were able to register four other new players before their season opener against Rayo Vallecano last weekend after freeing up funds.

However, Diario SPORT reports that Kounde is beginning to become worried by the situation. The 23-year-old is frustrated by the ordeal and would like to return to action as soon as possible.

They also suggest that Barcelona bosses have aimed to ease Kounde’s concern by informing him that his registration will be prioritised in the coming weeks.

The former Sevilla defender is absent from Barca’s squad to face Real Sociedad on Sunday evening, with Xavi insisting in his pre-match press conference that Kounde remains in “good spirits.”

The Spaniard said: “At the moment, we don’t know anything. We are on standby. We are waiting. Kounde is a great leader and a great player. Hopefully he shows it soon.

“He has trained very well, I see him in good spirits, but we need to sell players to be able to register him.”

90min revealed earlier this week that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has green-lighted a move to Chelsea, which should free up further funds to help the club register Kounde. It is also believed that a part-exchange bid involving Marcos Alonso has been lodged by the Premier League club.
