Chelsea withdraw their offer for Aubameyang, deal stalls – report

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of FC Barcelona looks on during the friendly match between FC Barcelona and Manchester City at Spotify Camp Nou on August 24, 2022 in Barcelona, Spain.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was edging oh-so-close to a deal with Chelsea in the last few weeks after personal terms had been agreed upon. Barcelona were also willing to compromise their €30 million asking price by a bit.

However, Chelsea kept insisting on including Marcos Alonso in the same deal to lower the asking price. Barcelona wanted all cash to be paid upfront for the Auba deal, and, therefore, refused to deal to negotiate a swap offer.

And now, as per a report by Helena Condis, as relayed by Tiempo de Juego, Chelsea have withdrawn their €15 million offer for Aubameyang. The deal has stalled, and the two parties will have to renegotiate the deal from scratch.

Auba is Thomas Tuchel’s main priority for the centre-forward role, and Chelsea were reportedly willing to go the extra mile to sign him. However, after today’s meeting, it seems the two parties have failed to reach a common ground.

With a little over 24 hours remaining in the transfer window, the Blaugranes are hoping to reach an agreement soon. An excess of €15-20 million will be a massive boost to their finances, helping them pursue a right and left-back.
