Arsenal still need to increase the firepower amongst
Mikel Arteta’s options next season despite the recent arrival of Gabriel Jesus.
The best way to do this will be to attack the transfer market.
One player that can be signed to enhance the
Gunners’ attacking options is Paulo Dybala. The Argentine can be acquired on a
free transfer after his contract with Juventus expired at the start of July.
However, a deal for Dybala will not be easy as,
according to Sky Sport, Manchester United are currently in talks with the
forward. Still, Arsenal have recently registered interest, and it is certainly
a player that Edu should look to hijack from Erik ten Hag.
Italian news outlet La Repubblica recently
reported that Arsenal are set to battle it out with Manchester United to secure
Dybala's signing. Napoli are also said to be interested in completing a deal.
The 28-year-old has scored 115 goals in the 293 games
for the Turin-based side and has played a significant part in the team's Serie
A title-winning seasons. He has also been a regular for the Argentina national
team making 34 appearances.
He also has Champions League experience under his belt, which is what
Arteta's side needs at the moment as they strive to get back into the European
competitions. The Gunners failed to qualify for the Champions League in the
previous campaign, so experience in the competition will be required to ensure
the disappointment from last season is not repeated.
Dybala has
been linked with a move to the Premier League and was very close to joining
Tottenham in 2019, but a deal never materialised. His career at Juventus took a
downfall after the arrival of Ronaldo in 2018, but he has a great chance to
prove many doubters wrong in the Premier League.
The signing also bodes a great opportunity for
Arsenal to get revenge on Juventus, who wanted to extend the Argentine's
contract but could not agree to his wages demands. The Old Lady made life
difficult for the Gunners after they beat the north London side to the signing
of Dusan Vlahovic, who Edu was drastically chasing in the January transfer
window.
Dybala would be an excellent signing, and securing
his signature over Tottenham and Manchester United would highlight that Arsenal
is still an attractive destination for a top player.
