The Wales captain has agreed to join the MLS franchise on a free transfer.

Gareth Bale has agreed to join Los Angeles FC on a free transfer according to numerous outlets, which brings his nine-year spell at Spanish giants Real Madrid to an end.

The Welsh international had been linked with a return to Tottenham Hotspur as well as a move to Cardiff City, but the five-time Champions League winner has decided to make the move across the Atlantic on an intial year long contract which can be extended for another 18 months.

There was speculation that Bale may have retired after the end of last season, but after Wales booked their place at the World Cup in Qatar earlier this month, those retirement plans have been put on hold.

During his time at Real Madrid Bale won three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, five UEFA Champions Leagues and three FIFA Club World Cups.

Bale however will not be the only high profile name arriving in Los Angeles this Summer, former Italy captain Giorgio Chiellini is also joing LAFC from Juventus.
