Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea are interested in signing Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus in the summer transfer window, according to Calciomercato.
The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that Liverpool are considering a bid for De Ligt.
Chelsea are also keen on the 22-year-old central defender and are on standby, according to the report.
Calciomercato have reported that De Ligt’s current release clause at Juventus is €125 million (£105.92 million).
The Netherlands international central defender reportedly has a new contract offer from Juventus which will see his release clause lowered, according to the report.
In our opinion, Juventus central defender Matthijs de Ligt should choose Chelsea over Liverpool, if indeed he decides to leave the Italian club in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool are well stocked in central defence and do not need to sign another 22-year-old.
De Ligt is unlikely to get ahead of Virgil van Dijk and ibrahima Konate in the Liverpool starting lineup.
Chelsea will have space at the back.
Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are set to leave Chelsea this summer, so De Ligt could slot straight into Tuchel’s side.
