Report: Arsenal could now sign ‘perfect’ striker for £51m after asking price slashed

Lautaro Martinez celebrates after scoring a goal during the Serie A football match between FC Internazionale and Empoli FC at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in San Siro, Milano, Italy on May 06,2022.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur will have to pay €60 million (£51.37 million) for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez in the summer transfer window, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report in the Italian publication, as translated by The Sun, has reported that Inter have now decided to sell Martinez for €60 million (£51.37 million) due to financial issues.

Mundo Deportivo reported in March that Inter were looking for €70 million (£59.94m) for Martinez, but it seems that the price has now dropped.

The Times reported earlier this month that Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in signing the Argentina international striker, described as “perfect” by former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves on BT Sport 1 (2:27pm, December 13, 2021)

Martinez has been banging in the goals for fun in Italy and would be a brilliant signing for Arsenal.

The Argentine is still only 24, which means that he will get better and develop even further in the coming years.

Martinez has scored 19 goals and given three assist in Serie A this season.

The Inter striker scored 17 goals and gave six assists in the league last season.
