Real Madrid to Extend Vinicius Junior Amid Interest From Ligue 1

Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid celebrates after Rodrygo of Real Madrid (not pictured) scores their sides second goal during the UEFA Champions League Semi Final Leg Two match between Real Madrid and Manchester City at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on May 04, 2022 in Madrid, Spain.

Real Madrid look set to extend Vinicius Junior amid interest from Paris Saint-GermainFabrizio Romano reported: “Paris Saint-Germain interested in me? I want to stay at Real Madrid. I’m close to a contract renewal. Real Madrid will enter into final stages of his contract extension until June 2028.”

Madrid will extend Vinicius for a long time to help fend off other clubs from coming back for the star winger.

Vinicius had an excellent campaign in 2021/22 with his highest goal and assist tally in a full season to date. His partnership with Karim Benzema helped the Frenchman have one of the best seasons of his distinguished career. While it all went well this past season, not all the news is good for Real Madrid. Real lost the race to sign Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, meaning they missed out on their chance to sign two of the world’s biggest forwards. Now left with a brilliant but all be it ageing Benzema, Real need a cornerstone to build the team around.

It looks like Vinicius will be the rock on which Madrid builds their proverbial church. They look set to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco and have already added pieces like Camavinga as well. With a solid midfield base, they also went out and signed Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea to help bolster the defence.

Real Madrid has a strong connection with South American football, specifically with the Brazilian national team. In the past couple of years, Casemiro and Marcelo have played pivotal roles in La Liga and Champions League triumphs. Real Madrid will look to continue their strong connection with the extension of Vinicius and give a more pivotal role to Rodrygo in the next couple of seasons. With Reinier Jesus on loan at Borussia Dortmund as well the entire front line could end up being from Brazil.
