Jurgen Klopp admits missing out on the Premier League title has increased Liverpool’s desire to claim a seventh European Cup next weekend.
The Reds finished a point behind Manchester City after ending the season on 92 points with both teams coming from behind to win their final games at home on Sunday.
Liverpool went 1-0 down early on against Wolverhampton Wanderers before Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson scored to earn a 3-1 triumph, while City were 2-0 down to Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa before three goals in five minutes secured a 3-2 success.
The Reds will now turn their attention to their Champions League final date against Real Madrid in Paris next Saturday evening as they look to secure a cup trophy treble.
And Klopp said: “Of course, losing the league today increases the desire to put it right next week. Yes, it increases the desire.
“But these competitions have nothing to do with each other. This season is absolutely incredible, and it doesn’t end today, it ends next week.
“And we will try absolutely everything. It’s never, ever happened before that you are completely without knocks going into a final. We had our knocks, obviously.
“This season is absolutely incredible that we can be there, it’s tough, you saw that today, the early goal didn’t help us. In the end, who cares, when you win the game that’s it.
“We will have now five days to prepare the final and that’s what we will do. And then we face an incredibly experienced team, but that’s really okay.”
