Botman rejects Newcastle move and waits for Milan

Lille defender Sven Botman has reportedly rejected a move to Newcastle and is keen to join Milan in January.

The 21-year-old is the Rossoneri’s priority target to replace the injured Simon Kjaer, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a severe knee injury.

Newcastle are also interested in securing his services, but according to The Times, the Dutch defender is unwilling to join the Magpies and has rejected an offer from St. James’ Park.

Calciomercato.com reports Botman wants to join Milan and talks between the Rossoneri and the French club ongoing.

Lille want €30m for their star defender, but the Serie A giants are unwilling to offer as much.

Paolo Maldini is trying to get the player on an initial loan deal with an option or obligation to buy for a fee lower than €30m.

It’s the same formula that the Rossoneri used to sign Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea one year ago.

The English defender eventually moved to San Siro on a permanent €25m move last summer.
