Barcelona offer Jordi Alba injury update

Bayern Munich's Canadian midfielder Alphonso Davies vies for the ball with Barcelona's Spanish defender Jordi Alba (R) during the UEFA Champions League first round group E football match between Barcelona and Bayern Munich at the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona on September 14, 2021.

Barcelona have confirmed that Jordi Alba suffered a hamstring injury during Tuesday’s Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich at the Camp Nou.

The left-back was a doubt before the match, and didn’t take part in the morning’s activation session, but still started the game against the Bundesliga champions.

However, Alba asked to be taken off late off and was replaced by Alex Balde for the last 15 minutes of the clash.

Barca confirmed afterwards that Alba has a hamstring problem and needs further tests to determine the severity of the injury.

Ronald Koeman’s side don’t play again until Granada visit the Camp Nou on Monday but it looks like Alba will be a doubt for that game which is likely to be good news for Balde.

Next week is a really busy one for Barca in La Liga and could see Koeman forced to rotate his team. Granada are up first on Monday, Barca then head to Cadiz on Thursday before welcoming Levante on Sunday.
