Ozan Kabak new signing of Liverpool at AXA Training Centre on February 02, 2021 in Kirkby, England.

Guardian Sports journalist Ed Aarons has tweeted that Ozan Kabak is wanted by a number of clubs in the summer transfer window including Crystal Palace, Leicester City and clubs in Germany and Spain.

Turkish footballer Kabak joined Liverpool in the January 2021 transfer window and there was a clause to make the move permanent. However, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has chosen not to activate that clause meaning the Schalke player is now on other clubs radars, including Premier League duo Leicester City and Crystal Palace.

Kabak struggled at Liverpool when he played in a backline without the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez through injury and did not really impress in his nine appearances. Liverpool failed to defend their Premier League crown with Manchester City eventually strolling away with the title.

Schalke are said to want around £8 million for the defender and are in need of raising funds due to a worsening financial situation and relegation from the Bundesliga. It is a sign of the struggles that the club have fallen into that only 18 months ago they were asking for a fee almost double that for Kabak. IMG-20210721-075923-575

Kabak was under intense scrutiny at Liverpool and would likely face less pressure at Leicester or Palace. Palace are effectively without any defenders as new manager Patrick Vieira looks to build his squad. Meanwhile, Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is aware that Jonny Evans is starting to age and suffer more frequent injuries, so needs solid support in the centre of defence and Kabak could ultimately be a long term replacement for the Northern Irishman when he finally hangs up his boots at the King Power Stadium.
