En-Nesyri nets treble as Sevilla go third

Youssef En-Nesyri of Sevilla FC in action during the La Liga Santander match between Sevilla FC and Cadiz CF at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on January 23, 2021 in Seville, Spain.

Youssef En-Nesyri scored his second hat-trick in a fortnight to lead Sevilla to a 3-0 win over Cadiz and lift the Andalusian side into third place in La Liga.

En-Nesyri has 12 goals and is now the Spanish league's leading striker of the season.

The Morocco forward also scored a treble in a 3-2 win over Real Sociedad two weeks ago.

He also has four goals this season in the Champions League, where Sevilla play Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16 next month.

En-Nesyri opened the scoring in the 35th minute after Jesus "Suso" Fernandez's shot hit the post and fell for him to finish off.

He added a second goal four minutes later with a precise header to send a free kick by Suso through a crowded area into the net and secured his hat-trick in the 62nd with another header following a poor clearance.

After their sixth win in the last nine matches, Sevilla moved two points ahead of Barcelona, who visits Elche on Sunday.

Also on Saturday, fifth-placed Villarreal pulled level with Barcelona on points after a 0-0 draw with bottom side Huesca.
