Danny Rose, the 30-year-old Tottenham defender who was recently on loan with Newcastle United, has been arrested after a crash that took place at 4 a.m. on December 24.
British tabloid The Sun has the exclusive on this, saying that the footballer was most likely speeding if only based on the damage to this car. An eyewitness says Danny Rose’s vehicle smashed into a central reservation with such force that it was left on three wheels and the bumper hanging off.
The crash occurred on the A45 in Northampton in East Midlands, England, and based on initial reports, involved only one vehicle, with the football ace at the wheel. Rose was not injured and remained at the scene until police arrived.
He was breathalyzed and found that he had not been drinking. He was also assessed by medical personnel and, once it was determined that he was fit for questioning, he was arrested and taken to the police.
One supposed eyewitness claims that Rose was “lucky to get out of [the crash] alive” given the mangled state of the vehicle. Presumably, the police were also “concerned about his condition” upon seeing the wreck.
We can confirm a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving on the A45 in Northampton shortly after 4am today, a Northamptonshire Police spokesperson tells the publication.
The suspect is currently being held at a police station in the county and, as such, it would be inappropriate for Northamptonshire Police to comment further at this time.
At the time of writing, a rep for Tottenham said that they had no knowledge of the crash. The tab notes that the location of the crash is closes to the M1 motorway, which Rose uses to travel from London to Doncaster, South Yorkshire, to see his family.
