Juventus 'on the verge' of completing deal to sign highly rated 19-year-old Genoa midfielder Nicolo Rovella for £9m

Juventus are reportedly on the verge of completing a deal to sign Genoa's highly-rated midfielder Nicolo Rovella.

It is believed the transfer to the Serie A champions will be finalised in the next few hours in a deal worth around £9million.

According to Gazetta Dello Sport, Rovella will be loaned back to his current club for the next two seasons, in order to allow the 19-year-old to continue to develop his game. 

Juve manager Andrea Pirlo is a fan of Rovella and has been linked with his signature over the last few months. 

However, there is still work to be done between the two clubs in order to get the deal over the line. Firstly Rovella needs to renew his contract with Genoa, which expires in June.

Pirlo's side have managed to fight off competition from Inter Milan for the young midfielder, who is enjoying a break out season with the Rossoblu.

Despite impressing in his seven appearances in Serie A Genoa have struggled, they are currently 18th in the league and have only won two of their 14 games. 

Juventus meanwhile are currently sixth, 10 points behind leaders AC Milan, although they do have a game in hand. 

Rovella made his debut Serie A debut in December 2019 as Genoa were thrashed 4-0 by Inter at the San Siro, he also won has two caps for Italy at Under-21 level.

The young midfielder is a product of the Genoa youth academy and can play a variety of midfield roles, he has even found himself on free-kick duty ahead of more experienced team mates this season. 

Next up for Genoa is a home game against Lazio on Sunday, Juventus meanwhile host Udinese in the evening kick-off.
