Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to agree a new deal with Arsenal which will see him become the club’s top earner.
The Gabon international had less than months left on his previous contract signed in January 2018, with Inter Milan and Barcelona both interested in a deal.
But success in the FA Cup and Community Shield has led to speculation the 31-year-old will sign on again with Mikel Arteta’s side.
And the Athletic have revealed the numbers behind the deal that will keep the Gunners’ top-scorer in north London.
The new contract runs until 2023, keeping him at Arsenal for three years and overtaking Mesut Ozil’s £350,000-a-week deal.
Talks were started by former head of football Raul Sanllehi earlier this year before technical director Edu and contract specialist Huss Fahmy finished the agreement.
And he already has a goal in the 2020/21 campaign, finding the net for Arsenal’s goal in their 1-1 Community Shield draw against Liverpool before winning on penalties.
Arteta was already confident of Aubameyang’s deal at the time, telling BT Sport last month: "We are trying to convince him he’s in the right place and the right environment to produce what he did here and four weeks ago [in the FA Cup final win over Chelsea].
"I’m very positive he’s going to sign but there are a lot of things involved in a contract deal and we are trying to solve them.
"I’m not worried [the saga will detract from preparations for the season]. We have built a good relationship between us. I’m confident. I see him smiling in training every day and that is a really good sign."
Aubameyang also teased fans on social media over the deal as well as his brother Willy.
