Barcelona step up pursuit of Lyon forward Memphis Depay

Barcelona allegedly remain keen to secure a deal for Lyon forward Memphis Depay.

With Lionel Messi staying at Camp Nou for the 2020-21 campaign, it has left Ronald Koeman to reassess how he may use his restricted transfer budget.

However, according to reports in Spain, the Dutchman is intent on bringing compatriot Depay to the La Liga giants before the end of the summer transfer window.

While Depay is regarded as a key man at Lyon, the 26-year-old has less than 10 months remaining on his contract at the Groupama Stadium.

That has seemingly left the playmaker being viewed as a cheaper alternative to Inter Milan frontman Lautaro Martinez, who has been strongly associated with an eventual transfer to Barca.

The Catalan club are said to be looking to sign Depay for a fee in the region of £17m.
