Everton are reportedly considering a move to sign Norwegian striker Joshua King from relegated outfit Bournemouth.
According to The Mirror (16/08, p68), as cited by HITC, the Toffees have an interest in signing the attacker, however, they will face competition.
Carlo Ancelotti is supposedly not the only Premier League manager interested in King, as Newcastle United’s Steve Bruce has ‘shown a real interest’ in signing the striker.
Furthermore, Portuguese outfit Benfica are also eyeing a move for King and the three clubs are facing a fight to sign him.
Supposedly, though, the Cherries do not wish to sell the 28-year-old, but will listen to offers due to the relatively short amount of time left on the attacker’s contract.
King’s current deal is due to expire next summer and the striker has a market value of £14.4m, according to Transfermarkt.
When considering King’s stats from the 2019/20 season, it would seem that the forward could be a good signing for the Toffees.
In the Premier League, the Norwegian was the third-best performer for the Cherries as he picked up a respectable 6.76/10 average rating (per WhoScored).
If the striker had earned the same average rating for Everton in the top flight last season, he would have been their joint-eighth-best performer.
To earn his average rating, King bagged six goals and four assists in 26 league appearances.
During the season, Everton’s Italian striker Moise Kean had an average of 1 shot, 0.3 key passes and 0.9 completed dribbles per match, whereas King took 1 shot, made 1.2 key passes and completed 2 dribbles per game.
So, it would seem that the Bournemouth forward would make for a better attacking option than Kean if the Toffees signed the Norwegian.
