Borussia Dortmund starlet, Erling Braut Haland, believes that Liverpool winger Sadio Mane is currently the best African football player in the world.
Haland faced Liverpool twice in the Champions League group stage this season with Red Bull Salzburg, scoring once in his former side’s 4-3 loss.
During a live video on Instagram, the 19-year-old was asked who he thought was the best African player, to which he responded with: “There’s been a lot of good African players these past years but right now I think it’s Mane.”
It’s no surprise that there is strong competition for the title of the best African footballer between Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
Both players have been on the podium for the African Player of the Year award for the past three years, with the Egyptian winning it twice, while his teammate won the latest edition.
They also enjoyed quite a bit of success with Liverpool lately as they lifted the Champions League trophy and are now on the verge of winning the Premier League as they sit on top of the league table.
However, due to the coronavirus outbreak and the league’s suspension, it is still unclear what will be the English FA’s decision regarding the league’s continuation.
