Official: Everton Give Injury Update on Andre Gomes

Everton confirm that Andre Gomes has undergone surgery to repair his broken ankle.

The 26-year-old picked up the serious injury in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur following a challenge by Heung-min Son & Serge Aurier, and the club have revealed Gomes will spend time recovering in hospital before he embarks upon rehabilitation at USM Finch Farm.

The Portuguese international will be out of action for the remainder of 2019 and may not return until February or March 2020.

Gomes will be a real loss to Marco Silva. Everton have lost all three Premier League games with him this season – 3-1 defeat to Bournemouth(September 15), 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United(September 21), 3-1 defeat to Manchester City(September 28).

When Gomes has started, Everton have only lost twice in seven games, keeping three clean sheets for their troubles.

In his absence, Silva could consider Tom Davies and Fabian Delph at the heart of the midfield. Morgan Schneiderlin will also be an option for the Blues when fit.
