Borussia Monchengladbach beat Fortuna Dusseldorf 3-0 to keep up 100percent home record

Borussia Monchengladbach grabbed 3-0 victory at home against Fortuna Dusseldorf on matchday 10 in the Bundesliga. Thorgan Hazard gave Borussia the lead before Jonas Hofmann added to their tally and Thorgan Hazard scored the third goal.

Borussia controlled the first half dominating the visitors deep in their half. Thorgan Hazard tested Rensing from 20 yards in after eight minutes, but the Fortuna goalkeeper had no trouble tipping the strike over the bar. Alassane Plea twice found himself in a strong position, but was unable to find the target.

After reassuring words from Borussia coach Dieter Hecking at the break, the team flew out of the blocks in the second half and the opener followed just three minutes in when Kaan Ayhan was penalised for handball in the box. Thorgan Hazard stepped up and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner with too much power for Rensing to keep out, despite getting his hand to the spot kick.

As Fortuna pushed forward in search of an equaliser, space opened up for Die Fohlen to attack on the break. A misguided pass from Ayhan was intercepted by Florian Neuhaus, whose fizzed pass found Jonas Hofmann in the box to slot calmly into the bottom corner. The victory was completed in the 82nd when Hazard’s edge-of-box effort flew into the net with the help of an Ayhan deflection.
