MIDDLESBROUGH DEFEAT LEEDS UNITEDTO MOVE ABOVE SHEFIELD UNITED IN CHAMPIONSHIP

Bristol City have fallen to eighth place in the Championship after the today night action at the Riverside Stadium. Middlesbrough emerged with an impressive 3-0 victory over fellow play-off contenders Leeds United to leap into the sixth spot ahead of Sheffield United and Bristol City. Tony Pulis' side were in control from the off on a cold night in Teesside with in-form striker Patrick Bamford firing them ahead after 31 minutes. He doubled the lead five minutes later thanks to a brilliant Adama Traore assist. Traore skinned three Leeds defenders as he galloped from his own half to penalty area before feeding Bamford who slotted home. Bamford then completed his first ever hat-trick in the second half as he got lucky with a deflected shot to seal a very comfortable three points for Boro. They are now level with Sheffield United on 55 points but their better goal difference takes them into the all-important final play-off spot. Bristol City are one point behind on 54 points.
