MAN CITY TO CONTEND WITH MAN UTD AND REAL MADRID FOR TOTTENHAM DEFENDER TOBY ALDERWEIRELD

Manchester City will face competition from Real Madrid in their pursuit of Toby Alderweireld, according to a report.
Chelsea are one of a number of clubs - including Manchester United - linked with a summer move for the Tottenham defender. However, according to The Mirror Real Madrid are now favourites to sign the Belgian at the end of the season. The 28-year-old's future was cast into doubt after he was left out of the Spurs squad for both their Champions League draw against Juventus and their Premier League win against Arsenal. Alderweireld is out of contract in summer 2019, but Tottenham have an option to extend his deal by one season until 2020. Failure to activate the extension, however, will trigger a release clause allowing Alderweireld to leave for a fee of £25.4million.
